In 1946, Dr. Carrie Best began to publish the Clarion.  This was Nova Scotia's first black Newspaper.  She also created a radio show program called the Quiet corner.  This aired for 12 years on 4 radio stations throughout the Martime Provinces.  She earned Honorary Doctor of Laws, Queen Elizabeth Metal and Honarary Doctor of Civil Law. Dr. Best was an officer in the Order of Canada.
